In the Environment
At TGP, we take environmental responsibility seriously. Our staff and customers continuously challenge us to improve our sustainability efforts, leading to impactful initiatives that reduce our carbon footprint and promote waste accountability.
Recycle, Reuse, Reduce
We actively recycle cardboard to minimize waste. In 2023, we recycled 269,230 Kg of cardboard at FCL distribution centres.
BigAss Fans
Our 24-foot BigAss Fans installed at our Distribution Centre help reduce air stratification, maintaining consistent air temperatures and reducing energy usage. Thanks to these fans, we’ve cut our natural gas consumption by 15 per cent.
Lights Out Initiative
To reduce energy consumption, we’ve installed over 800 motion-sensor, energy-efficient lights at our distribution centre. In just one year, we saved 1.17 million kilowatts of energy: enough to power 122 homes for an entire year.
Plastic Recycling
Annually, we send 296,715 Kg of plastic wrap and film from local Co-ops and FCL distribution centres, which were baled and sold to be processed into composite decking.
Food Waste Reduction
Across the CRS 5.2 million Kg of food waste was rescued and repurposed to local farms through the Loop program.
FCL donated over 374,400 Kg of food to local food banks, equivalent to over $3.4 million in value.
FCL donated an equivalent of $73,000 of pet food to local pet rescue organizations in Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon and Winnipeg.
FCL diverted over 39% of waste from the landfill.
At TGP, we believe in continuous improvement and sustainable practices. Through our recycling efforts, energy-efficient initiatives, and food waste reduction programs, we remain committed to protecting our environment for future generations.
